From an early age, Onyx was weaned on steady diet of Beatles and Rolling Stones music passed down from older siblings. His Broadway actress sister takes him to see Elton John at MSG in the mid 70s which inspires him to take up the piano. Teen years arrive along with an obsession with David Bowie and Prince.
While in Boston, Onyx befriends Michigan native Dennis White (2018 Grammy Award Winner) who will become a lifelong creative collaborator. The two work together in a group which included guitarist Reeves Gabrels who would go onto become David Bowie's guitarist and currently the guitarist for The Cure.

Tommy partners up with soul mate Gina Hardjakoesoema to open Michigan's first Indonesian Art gallery in Birmingham Michigan. The two import curated art and handicrafts, hand picked,. from Bali and Java representing the culture spanning across Indonesia's 15,000 Islands.

Loudbaby's Technology Director GK creates Loudbaby's first website "ketokmagic.com", which is one of Onyx's music projects at the time. Onyx is beginning his move into multimedia production: video, graphics and animation. He is now performing "live" video and visual effects (VJ) during Inner City concerts, in conjunction with his keyboard playing.
The loudbaby.com domain name is registered November 18th 1999.

Onyx hits the road again as music director on a tour of Scandinavia and Japan with icon Detroit artist Norma Jean Bell. NJB is a music virtuoso who has played in bands with Frank Zappa,. Miles Davis, Chic and Parliament Funkadelic. This tour was a 3 piece group comprised or NJB, Onyx and percussionist Jared Sykes performing improvisational house music.
Onyx worked with ddub media and the Rebel Group in Los Angeles to produce and author lifestyle content DVDs for the launch Toyota's new Scion brand.

Onyx was recruited once again for a Toyota project. This time, by the George P. Johnson agency, as a live multimedia VJ artist for their 2007 National Dealer Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.
